April 2016 Federal ITC Action Alert

Dear DWEA members and distributed wind advocates,

We are still in play on what is known as the FAA bill pending in the United States Senate. We’d ask that you reach out, again, if you have already in recent months, to your US Senator(s) and urge inclusion of the small wind ITC, business and residential credits (Code sections 48c and 25d) – equal to what solar received last December.

Talking points:

– Small wind is a nascent technology and relies heavily on fair policies to drive the market;
– We are almost exclusively small businesses, working in and typically located in rural America;
– Small wind technology is non-controversial, supports rural economic development, domestic manufacturing, and jobs;
– There is very little cost to the United States Treasury for these credits, and they are infinitesimal relative to the technologies they’ve recently extended or to many long-standing credits in the tax code.

You can call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 to be connected to your Senator’s office, one or both of them. If you know the staff, simply email them immediately with a quick note urging that the small wind ITC business and residential credits be extended on FAA, to provide parity with solar.
