REpowering Schools Introduces College Students to Wind Energy Careers

REpowering Schools (REpS), a non-profit 501c3, is dedicated to fortifying the clean energy industry by nurturing a proficient and prepared workforce. The program’s mission encompasses distinctive public-private alliances that unite the federal government, state agencies, universities, education specialists, and other pertinent organizations. These strategies are designed to engage and enlighten students at the K-12 and collegiate levels, inspiring hope for a sustainable future. REpS presents a series of opportunities tailored for colleges and universities and prospects for industry engagement. The program’s aim is to help cultivate and support the future of the renewable energy workforce by facilitating conference experiences and student symposia. Through this work, REpS is excited to return to RE+ 2024 with a group of students for its 20th anniversary in Anaheim, California! If DWEA members are attending the conference, find REpS on the show floor in booth number MP523.

In addition to the program’s project seed funding opportunities, REpS, in collaboration with NREL, is also collaborating with the U.S. Department of Energy for the inaugural 2024 Wind Works Forum, NREL’s new virtual career fair-like event from Sept. 23-26. This event is designed to help students and other career seekers envision and take the first step toward exciting careers in wind energy. Check out the Events section of the REpS website to register today! Lastly, REpS is piloting a student-led endeavor named College & Career Stories, where students conduct interviews with professionals in the renewable energy field to glean insight into their career trajectory and occupational roles. Subsequently, these interviews will be disseminated across social media platforms, YouTube, and the REpS official website. REpS will also begin hosting monthly Student Network calls starting in September to connect students and introduce them to companies throughout the industry.

At REpowering Schools is deeply committed to facilitating the connection of individuals offering job openings with potential applicants within our network. REpS actively encourages the submission of job postings for this purpose, providing support and encouragement to both employers and job seekers. For details about programs or to actively engage, check the REpS website or email at info@repoweringschools.org. Please continue to send REpS your job postings!
