Regulatory Updates
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) under the 2025 Competitiveness Improvement Project (CIP) to support U.S. wind turbine manufacturers in developing small- and medium-sized wind energy technologies. Managed on behalf of the Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office, CIP provides funding and technical assistance to help manufacturers design, test, certify, and commercialize distributed wind turbines. The 2025 program introduces process improvements, increased funding, and expanded project phases to address industry needs, including inverter development, manufacturing cost reduction, and grid integration. Applicants can submit proposals by March 28, 2025, with selected projects expected to enhance reliability, performance, and market competitiveness of distributed wind energy.
